Program Structure

Our six winter 2013 Worlds of Wisdom and Wonder programs meet on Sunday afternoons for five consecutive weeks each. Program hours for all students at all locations are 2:00 to 4:30.

Buffalo Grove, Burr Ridge, Chicago, Naperville: For students in pre-kindergarten thru 4th grades, afternoons consist of two classes, which the students select from a rich variety of exciting topics. Each class period is about 75 minutes long. Students in 5th-8th grades may either choose the same two-class format, or opt instead to enroll in a single workshop, which meets for the entire two-and- a-half hours every week.

Elmhurst, Oak Forest: For all students, afternoons consist of two classes, which the students select from a rich variety of exciting topics. Each class period is about 75 minutes long.

At all locations except Buffalo Grove, the two courses for our youngest students have been pre- selected. These theme-based topics will be explored in interdisciplinary settings through literature, art, science, drama, math, and movement.

Winter courses and the grade levels to which they are offered vary at each location. Please see the individual program pages for course descriptions, locations, and dates specific to each program.

Program Details

Application
Applications are accepted online via our website, by mail, email, fax, and in person. They must include full tuition. Application forms can be found on our brochures or printed from our website. Enrollment remains open until individual programs begin. There are no application deadlines.

Parents receive email notification of enrollment status when we have received their complete applications with full tuition. For students new to our programs, applications are not complete until we also have received their teacher recommendations .

Placement
To ensure that as many students as possible are placed in their favorite courses, placement does not occur until shortly before each program begins. Students are then placed in classes successively per their application dates, with their alternate choices being considered only as scheduling and enroll ment may require. During the week before each program begins, parents receive email notification of class placement , schedules, room assignments, and other pertinent information. Students are welcome to switch classes as space allows, both before and at any time during the programs.

Please note that, although courses are offered to multiple grade levels, students are placed with their age peers, usually with only two grade levels per classroom.

Program Costs & Payments
Tuition for each winter 2013 program is $210. It is due in full with application, as are any applicable lab fees (see course descriptions). Payments may be made by check or money order payable to “The Center for Gifted,” Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card, e-check, or cash.

Refunds & Withdrawals
Tuition includes a $40 processing fee, which will not be refunded under any circumstances except when a student’s admission is denied or when all of a student’s selected courses are unavailable. Refund processing may take up to six weeks.

Requests for withdrawals must be submitted via email to [email protected] by the Friday before the program begins. Parents will then receive a refund of tuition and fees paid minus the non-refundable processing fee. There are no credits or refunds for withdrawing after a program begins, for absences for any reason, for late or partial enrollments, for siblings, or for enrolling in multiple programs.

Financial Assistance
Partial scholarships are awarded based on need. Families requesting assistance need only send a $40 processing fee with their program applications. This will be credited to their share of tuition, or refunded if their scholarships do not enable them to enroll. Contact the CFG for more information or to apply.

Car Pools
Families who have indicated an interest in carpooling on their applications may contact the CFG anytime to request contact information for other families who also have indicated their interest.

Communication
All email correspondence is sent to families from [email protected]. Families who apply should enable their email programs to receive all emails from that address.
