Program Structure

Our five winter 2012 Worlds of Wisdom and Wonder programs meet on Sunday afternoons for five weeks, each. Program hours for all students at all locations are 2:00 to 4:30.

For most students, Sunday afternoons consist of two classes, chosen by the students from a variety of exciting topics. For very young students, we have selected courses and themes to be explored in interdisciplinary settings, through literature, art, science, drama, math, and movement. Older students may choose to enroll in a single workshop, which meets for the entire 2 hours every week.

Application / Placement / Email Notifications

Enrollment for each program location remains open until the program begins. For fast, easy, and secure service, please consider applying online. Applications are also accepted by mail, and in person. The address for mailing applications is: The Center for Gifted, Box 364, Wilmette, IL 60091.

Parents are notified of enrollment status when we have received their complete applications. Applications for students who are new to our programs are not complete until we also have received their teacher recommendations.

Students are placed in classes on a rolling basis, per application dates. They are generally placed in classes with their age peers, with only two or three grade levels in any one classroom. Exceptions are made based on course content, presentation, and student readiness.

A week or two before programs begin, parents receive enrollment packets which include their childrens individual class assignments. Please note: Notifications (enrollment status, course placement and others) are sent to parents by email from [email protected]. Families should enable their email programs to allow emails from this address. Families who do not provide an email address will receive all information by mail.

Tuition / Fees / Financial Aid

Tuition is $195 for the entire five-Sunday program at each location. It is due in full with the application, as are any applicable lab fees (see course descriptions). We accept payments by check, money order, credit card, and cash. Make checks and money orders payable to The Center for Gifted. Applications recieved on or before December 1st, 2011 will receive a 10% early enrollment discount. This may not be combined with any other discounts.

$40 of tuition is non-refundable; parents who withdraw their child before the program begins will receive a refund of the balance paid. There are no credits or refunds for withdrawing after a program begins, or for absences or late or partial enrollments for any reason. There are no sibling discounts.

Financial assistance is available based on need. Please contact us for more information.

Parent Seminars

Educating parents about gifted education and parenting is inherent in the purpose and value of our programs. At all winter locations, we shall offer on-site seminars designed specifically for parents of bright, motivated children. Information about seminar topics, dates, and speakers will be included in enrollment packets. Please join us!
