Program Structure |
Project 2013 is designed for bright, motivated learners who welcome dynamic opportunities to explore
diverse subjects in a challenging, creative environment. This innovative summer program meets on
weekdays for three weeks. Students may choose from three formats: Morning-Only, Full-Day, or
Afternoon-Only. The development of problem-solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking is inherent
in the framework for all courses. Projects and activities evoke active, hands-on participation.
For Morning-Only and Full-Day students, mornings consist of two classes which they have selected from a rich variety of exciting topics (see Project 2013 Courses).
Each class period is from 60 to 90 minutes long.
On several mornings, one-half to one hour is reserved for Colloquia, informal gatherings of the students and faculty.
For Full-Day and Afternoon-Only students, the afternoon offers a distinct variety of fascinating courses from which to choose. They also have the afternoon option of exploring either two courses in 75-minute
classes, or a single theme of their choice in a 2 hour workshop.
Full-Day students join their peers for lunch (sack lunches brought from home) prior to their afternoon classes. |

Application |
Applications are accepted online via our website, by mail, email, fax, and in person. They must include the required $150 deposit. Application forms can be found on our flyers and website. Enrollment remains open until the program begins. There is no application deadline.
Parents receive email notification of enrollment status when we receive their complete applications with deposits. For students new to our programs, this includes their recommendation letters (see Eligibility), which may be sent with application or seperately. |
|
Placement |
Students are placed in classes successively per application dates. The great majority of students are
placed in their favorite courses. Alternate choices are considered only as scheduling and enrollment may
require. During the week before the program begins, parents receive email notification of class placement.
Students are welcome to switch classes as space allows, both before and at any time during the program.
Please note that, although courses are offered to multiple grade levels, students are placed with their age
peers, usually with only two or three grade levels per classroom. |
|
Payments |
A deposit of $150 is required with application and will be credited to tuition. The balance of tuition and lab
fees is due in full by June 17. Payments may be made by check or money order payable to The Center for Gifted, Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card, e-check, or cash. |
|
Refunds and Withdrawals |
Requests for withdrawals must be submitted via email by the Friday before the program begins. Parents will receive a refund of tuition and fees paid minus a $60 processing fee, which is not refundable under any circumstances, except when a students admission is denied or when all of a students selected courses are unavailable. Refund processing may take up to six weeks.
There are no credits or refunds for withdrawing after the program begins, for absences for any reason, for
late or partial enrollments, for siblings, or for enrolling in multiple programs. |
|
Financial Assistance |
Need-based financial assistance is available. Instead of the $150 deposit, a $60 processing fee is
required with application and either will be applied to the balance due, if any, or refunded if the award
does not enable the student to enroll. Contact the CFG for more information or to apply. |
|
Communication |
All program information and correspondence from the CFG to parents are emailed to the address provided on student applications, from [email protected]. Parents may wish to enable their email programs to receive all messages (some with large attachments) from that address. |
|
|
Open House |
On the evening of the last day, students present an Open House for their parents, families and friends. This culminating event includes classroom presentations and live stage performances, communicating the diverse artistic and academic, creative and intellectual talents of our students with great enthusiasm. |
