Explore the USA: Traverse the United States, discovering the wonders of its mountains, forests, and plains; its Great Lakes, sea coasts, deserts, and swamps; its people, cultures, and history. Explore the states through creative, interdisciplinary activities involving science, math, literature, drama, and art.

1st - 6th Grade Courses (as indicated)

Tales Around the World: Ever wonder how the story of The Gingerbread Boy is told in China? In Mexico? Explore folktales, fairy tales, reader's theater, and storytelling around the world. Grades 1-2
Journalism: Do you like to investigate local happenings? Review books and movies? Express your opinions on timely topics? Collaborate to write, edit, and produce a newspaper. Grades 3-6
Math Games and Puzzles: Ponder logic puzzles, play math games, tackle tangram tricks, and solve sequencing secrets! Grades 1-2
Math Logic and Investigations: Develop and enhance your logical thinking skills through deductive and inductive thinking, puzzles, investigations, and games. Create your own authentic deductive reasoning puzzles and games. Grades 3-6
LEGO Robotics I: Engineer and program robots to solve challenges using gears, motors, sensors, and computers. ($10 lab fee) Grades 3-6
LEGO Robotics II: Work with other advanced students to strategize, design, program, and race your robots. ($10 lab fee) Grades 4-6
Microbiology: Investigate microscopic life, grow bacterial gardens, and sleuth out fungi and algae. Just how disgusting are drinking fountains? Or your dirty socks? Grades 4-6
Computer Games Lab: Explore different design options as you create your own computer games using Scratch. Grades 2-3
Computer Graphic Design: Explore the art and technology of graphic design. Create posters, logos, book covers, and comic strips using GIMP. Grades 4-6
Goo, Gak, Slime: Discover hands-on chemistry as you explore slippery substances and mushy stuff via elbow-deep, sometimes silly, but extremely scientific projects and experiments. Grades 1-3
Dinosaurs, Fossils, and Digs: Ponder paleozoological puzzlements, organize a dig, and embark on a simulated expedition to unearth fossils 300 million years old. Grades 1-4
Masters of Mystery: Investigate and solve mysteries! Uncover schemes, break secret codes, sleuth for clues, deduce conclusions, and crack cases. Grades 3-6
Chess Club I: Investigate basic moves, openings, end games, and strategies. All chess enthusiasts welcome! Grades 1-6
Chess Club II: Hone your skills and sharpen your strategic thinking through exploring advanced openings, end games, and strategies. Experienced players only! Grades 3-6
Strange, Sturdy Sculpture: Have you gazed at a sculpture and wondered how it was made? Have you tried to test the limits of gravity and balance? Explore sculpture making through a variety of media and assemblage processes. Grades 1-6
Musical Theater: Grades 1-2 will perform Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; grades 3-4, The Wiz, and grades 5-6, Little Shop of Horrors. Grades 1-6

Animals, Nature, and Wonderment: Discover wondrous creatures and habitats around the world. Investigate, explore, dramatize, and create through hands-on fun and activities with science, literature, math, art, and more!

1st - 6th Grade Courses (as indicated)

Creative Writing: Could posters, paintings, films, and books inspire you to write stories and poetry? Be published in our magazine. Grades 2-6
Science Puzzlers: Challenge the laws of physics and chemistry! Defy gravity, melt stuff in cold air, make a ball fall uphill, and other amazing scientific phenomena. Grades 1-2
Chemistry Lab: Explore chemical properties through hands-on experiments. Investigate molecular structure. Experiment with solutions, solvents, and reactants, but don't blow up the lab! Grades 3-6
Computer Games Lab I: Explore different design options as you create your own computer games using Scratch. (May be taken more than once until Scratch is mastered.) Grades 2-6
Computer Games Lab II: Are you confident in your ability to program in Scratch? Then join this advanced class to create more sophisticated games. Grades 4-6
Historic Games of Strategy and Diplomacy: Re-enact history through games of strategy. Invade Britannia, lay iron track as an Empire Builder, expand empires through 4000 years of History of the World, or fight World War II in Axis and Allies. Grades 4-6
The Art of Math: Investigate geometric patterns and puzzles. Create and construct your own models with stuff like straws, string, paper, toothpicks, and marshmallows. Grades 1-2
Geometric Design and Construction: Create Escherian designs and kaleidoscopic visuals. Construct figures with compass and straightedge. Develop geometric intuition through hands-on exploration. Grades 3-6

Art Time Machine: Travel through time to discover the distinctive styles and methods of famous artists. Experiment with their techniques in your own masterpieces. Grades 1-6
Making Visible the Invisible: How do mimes make you "see" the invisible? Learn mime techniques and performance from a professional! Grades 1-6
